Not Another Mobile Phone Blog

One of its kind Mobile Phone Blog, that gives you views and news about mobile phones from India and across the world. I am in love with Nokia and their phones but I also write about other mobile guys. Think Mobile..Think NAMP!!!!

I had posted on the Q1 2008 figures for the global mobile phone market. Nokia is leading with a significant margin over it competitors. However, in the global mobile phone market LG has outperformed Sony Ericsson and gained the 4th position. Nokia continues to shine in India. In the first quarter of 2008, just like it is doing in the global mobile handset market, Nokia is the leader of the Indian mobile phone market. Sony Ericsson follows Nokia; Samsung has kicked Motorola out to gain the third spot of the lucrative Indian mobile handset market. Though Nokia and Sony Ericsson continue to rule the market, Samsung is the one that gained significant market share. May be this has to do with the robust marketing and advertising strategies Samsung has been implementing in the Indian market, which is 2nd, behind China in terms of mobile subscribers.
As of now Nokia stands at 69.5%, Sony Ericsson at 8%, Samsung 7% and Motorola at 5.9% and you will be surprised to know that both Nokia and Motorola have lost market share in the month of March, but I don’t think that will be a problem with Nokia, keeping in mind the phone that are about to be launched in India, Nokia will gain the lost momentum. The only thing that will be haunting Nokia will be its position in the US market where its ass is getting kicked. Hope their initiative to concentrate more on the US market pays off.
