Not Another Mobile Phone Blog

One of its kind Mobile Phone Blog, that gives you views and news about mobile phones from India and across the world. I am in love with Nokia and their phones but I also write about other mobile guys. Think Mobile..Think NAMP!!!!

India is a growing economy and the same has been reflected in the sales of mobile phones. According to an IDC study, 85 million mobile handsets were shipped in India in the year 2007-08, which is a 29% growth over 2006-07 numbers of 66 million handset shipments. There has also been a growth in shipments of high-end phones that run on EDGE and WCDMA technology. This is a clear indicator that Indian mobile phone users are now moving up the value chain and are opting for phones that are fast and offer them a host of multimedia and business related functionalities. Nokia is but obviously the leader in the market with almost 53% market share followed by LG and Samsung with market shares of 10.2% and 8.3% respectively. Sony Ericsson was pushed back by LG in the Indian market and is still struggling. Nokia leads the market share as it has a portfolio of mobile phones that cater to the needs of consumers in all income classes. The average selling value of the mobile phones is also falling as a result of the fierce competition. All these coupled with the young generation of India is fuelling the Indian mobile handset market.
