Variety reports that at the end of March 2008, India had 261 million mobile phone subscribers. Now India is behind China when it comes to number of mobile subscribers. TRAI has also reported that 10 million subscribers have been added in March as compared to 7 million in February 2008. Mobile subscribers in India are growing every year. Population, which was looked at as a bane, is proving like a boon for India as well as mobile service providers and mobile handset OEM.
