The newest Indo-Japanese GSM service venture between NTT DoCoMo of Japan and Tata Teleservices is doing well especially with its pay per second strategy. Its a late entrant in the Indian GSM space which is dominated by big wigs like AirTel and Vodafone. Due to its innovative pricing strategy, it has got a overwhelming response from end users tatadocomo.gifand may be that is the reason, NTT DoCoMo thinks that they would be profitable in the Indian market in the coming three years. Currently DoCoMo owns 26% stake in Tata Teleservices and in future they are also planning to do more investments in the Indian market. The company's Senior VP has also hinted toward increasing the stake in Tata Teleservices and also feels that in future a lot of consolidation will happen in the Indian mobile services space, where big players might invest heavily in smaller ones and might buy them over. Apart from offering GSM services, the JV is also planning to bring NTT DoCoMo handsets for the Indian market which would be bundled with their data plans. The JV might also look out for some smaller operators to buy them out if additional spectrum is needed.
