Well, sorry for that confusing headline, I am talking about Android Apps here. Android as a smart phone OS has gained a lot of momentum in the last couple of years, thanks to it beimg open source and getting support from well known OEMs like HTC, Samsung and also from popular mobile service operators. Like the iPhone Apps, Android Apps as also increasing in number and people are downloading and developing a new app every couple of minutes. Android has recently expanded its paid apps store to 32 countries and India is a part of that list, So Indians, who have a Android based smart phone can download apps. Indians can buy apps using Google Checkout, a PayPal like offering from Google but Indian developers cannot sell their own developed apps on this app store. Apps sales support is also expanded to 29 countries and India does not make it to that list. Accoording to a blog dedicated to Android Development,
- Android Market users from 32 countries will be able to buy apps, with the addition of Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, and Taiwan.
- Support for paid application sales is now expanded to developers in 29 countries, with today's additions of Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland and Taiwan. Nine other countries: Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom, United States.
