The mobile content market in India will be 830 million USD in 2009 and will triple by 2013, says a report from mobile SQUARED. India is one of the biggest markets in the world in terms of consumption of mobile related services and content. The mobile content market in India is fueled by the ever growing number of mobile phone subscribers. Currently there are 350+ million mobile phone subscribers in India and this market is forecasted toi reach around 650 to 680 million mobile phone subscribers. This is one of the main reasons why the mobile content and value added services market in India is on a rise. The important thing that we need to keep in mind here is that 3G has still not penetrated India the way it has in other countries. Still, India manages to churn out these huge numbers, just imagine what happens if 3G services were available to certain percentage of population. The huge consumption of VAS over mobile in India is enough for the government to speed up its process of the 3G license auction, which is getting delayed everyday.
