Vertu launched the Ascent T1 in India recently. It is one of the first Vertu handset with 3 Meg camera and flash. The phone is 3G enabled and can work on 4 frequency bands. Frank Nuovo, Vertu Principal Designer says, “From the start the Vertu Ascent has been heavily influenced by the power, energy, and sheer precision of a beautiful car. With the Ascent Ti, this vision has been developed further using the high grade materials, design detail, technical superiority and unsurpassed performance associated with the luxury sports car industry. The result is a highly crafted handset of precision, balance and strength.”
Like all the Vertus this one was also designed and handcrafted in the UK. The phone has functionalities, which are exclusive to Vertu, like the Vertu Fortress to backup your phone data. The phone carries a price tag, which makes it affordable to only the rich and famous. The phone is available in India at US $8000….shocked..me too.

So that's where Frank Nuovo went to. I knew he had quite being the Global Head of design for Nokia, but I didn't realise he went over to be a designer for Vertu. Funny that. Though the guy is probably rich enough to buy a few himself.
