Not Another Mobile Phone Blog

One of its kind Mobile Phone Blog, that gives you views and news about mobile phones from India and across the world. I am in love with Nokia and their phones but I also write about other mobile guys. Think Mobile..Think NAMP!!!!

Nokia started shipping out the N96 few days back and the pricing for N96 in India is out. The iPhone killer from the Finnish giant will cost between 32,000 to 35,000, surprised, me too!! The recent disappointment that the iPhone has caused to the Indian mobile buyers has not died down yet and with N96’s cost at par with the iPhone, people won’t be happy. But when you look at the specifications of the N96 they are far better than the 3G iPhone, except the touch interface, which the iPhone boasts of. N96 is a multimedia monster from the Finnish giant with live TV, 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, turn-by-turn voice navigation, 16GB of internal memory that can be increased to 24GB with an optional microSD card, superior sound and music, N-Gage gaming and a stunning 2.8" display. With such a high price tag attached to the N96, I guess there would be very less takers of the N96 in India. As far as I know, even the Nokia N95 8GB that was around 29,000 Rs. didn’t do quite well in the Indian market. But the overall N Series portfolio of Nokia is doing damn good in India. For a company like Nokia, whose roots are pretty deep in the Indian market, such goof up will not have much impact on its market share but for a company like Apple, the pricing for the Indian market is something that, the company will always regret.

No doubt, N96 is great but many people prefer iPhone because of touchscreen.

@Adam - You are right Adam, N96 is a real great phone when it comes to functions as compared to the iPhone but it cannot beat the iPhone in the multi-touch touch flow interface.
