Not Another Mobile Phone Blog

One of its kind Mobile Phone Blog, that gives you views and news about mobile phones from India and across the world. I am in love with Nokia and their phones but I also write about other mobile guys. Think Mobile..Think NAMP!!!!

3gs_iphone.jpgApple's World Wide Developer Conference kicked off today at 10.30 PM India time at San Fransisco, US. This conference will go on for 4 days and will end on June 12. One of the most awaited device of the year 2009, the new Apple iPhone was launched at the WWDC today, last year it was called as the iPhone 3G. The new iPhone will be called the iPhone 3GS and not the iPhone Video. So my guess was wrong but I still find the name weird. The S in 3GS stands for speed and this new iPhone is the fastest of the lot. This times Apple has made the user experience on the new iPhone faster. The phone has a 3 mega pixel snapper (not 3.2 mega pixel) with auto focus, white balance and video capturing feature (30 fps VGA quality...hmm not impressed) (you can tap the object and the camera will focus on it), 7.2 mbps HSDPA connectivity. Voice control commands to make calls, create playlists, dial numbers, shuffle. The rumor of iPhone having a digital compass was also true , as the new iPhone 3GS has one. The compass integrates itself with the maps on iPhone. The new iPhone has hardware encryption, encrypted iTunes back-up and greatly improved battery life. [ Via ]

It also has all the features that were showcased in the iPhone OS 3.0, landscape mode, MMS, Cut-copy-paste, support for 30 languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Thai) [thats really cool], keyboard in landscape and portrait mode. The 16GB version of the iPhone 3GS will be available at $199 and 32GB will be at $299 but this is in the US and best part is that Apple will be keeping the iPhone 3G and will be selling it at $99. The phone will be available in late June in the US and will reach 80 countries in August 2009. I hope India is one of these 80 countries.Last year when Apple launched iPhone 3G in India, it priced it at a premium and the phone didn't do well as expected to do in a mobile crazy country like India. I hope this time Apple uses some good pricing strategy for the Indian market. India is and will be a great market for the iPhone and Apple's share in the mobile phone space will increase in India if it prices the phone at a correct price point.

Apple iPhone has become so popular that Apple has sold 40 million iPhones and iPod Touch till now and with the introduction of the new iPhone, this number will grow by leaps and bounds.
