He is the chief designer at Nokia and his team of people from different streams like ergonomics, industrial designers makes sure that every mobile phone that Nokia churns out as an attractive design. He recently gave a exclusive interview to Forbes where he talked about the things that inspire him to design new phones for Nokia and what is the future. In his interview he has confirmed that soon touch enabled N Series devices will be available from Nokia apart from the already available N Series tablet, the N800. As a designer, his aim is to come out with devices that will encompass today’s hot trends like TV, Music, Internet, plasma quality video. One interesting point that he has brought up in the interview is that, he take inspiration from Indian youth who are hungry for technology and has also spent a lot of time with Indian youth. According to him, it’s not US any more; countries like India, China and Russia are driving current trends in the mobile phone market. The interview is a must read for everyone whether you follow mobile phone industry or not. At the end of the day, Alastair’s aim is to create devices that look beautiful, are simple and easy to use.
