Ok here is one more iPhone Killer on the block. There have been many iPhone killers before this one but none of them was able to actually kill the multi-touch bliss iPhone whether it is the XPERIA X1 or the Nokia 5800 or the Blackberry Storm. Anyway, the new iPhone killer comes from the popular electronics manufacturer, Toshiba and is named as TG01, seems like the name of some kind of Tank.

The TG01 is 9.9mm thick ultra-slim handset and has a massive 4.1 inch touch screen display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. The phone's touch screen is powered by Toshiba's REGZA technology. The phone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 OS and no other Windows Mobile OS based smartphone today boasts that kind of massive touch screen interface. So actually this phone might be a threat for other Windows Mobile based handsets that are there in the market. The other thing that makes this phone a clear winner over its Windows Mobile based siblings is that, it has a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, fastest on the block. The TG01 has a unique striped menu interface.

Other features of the phone include custom built 3D touch interface with gesture control, HSDPA connectivity, A-GPS, Wi-Fi Connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, G-Sensor (built-in three dimensional accelerometer), 3.2 mega pixel snapper and a front camera for video calling. The phone has expandable memory with microSD support, Flash DivX support. The phone's features are pretty impressive, but I am not sure if Windows Mobile will complement all the cool features that this phone has. I am sure that, Toshiba will soon start thinking of having other mobile OS like Android or the LiMo Platform on this phone as a dedicated smart phone junkie would prefer something good over Windows Mobile OS. Anyway, the phone has some really cool features that are not there in the iPhone but it wont be able to steal iPhone's market acceptance. Yeah, one thing is for sure it will be a real threat for other WinMo based mobile handsets/smart phones.

X1

When 2008 started, Sony Ericsson announced that it will be coming out with a range of high-end multimedia handsets under the name of XPERIA. This, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 was born, the first flag bearer of the XPERIA range. Surprisingly, Sony Ericsson, said that it would be using Windows Mobile as the Operating system in the X1 and it will have touch panels. X1 runs on the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 and  was showcased at CTIA 2008. Since then people as well as mobile phone enthusiasts around the world are waiting for Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1 and till now there is now official news from Sony Ericsson regarding the launch date of the XPERIA X1. The X1 is indeed a good phone, it also made to my list of iPhone Killers. and if Sony Ericsson keeps on delaying the date of launch, people would eventually start loosing interest in the X1 and when it actually launches, the response can be disheartening for Sony Ericsson. First the news came that Sony Ericsson would be launching the X1 in September 2008 but now, according to the latest news that are going around, Sony Ericsson will be launching the X1 in December 2008 or January 2009, that's pretty bad considering the fact that XPERIA X1 was showcased almost at the start of 2008. If news are to be believed then the main cause behind this delay is that, Sony Ericsson is facing some kind of problems with Windows Mobile 6.1, which was kind of expected.

N96_05 Nokia has finally launched its converged multimedia N Series device, the Nokia N96. Looks wise the N96 is a hybrid of the N95 and the N81 GB, but when its comes to performance and functionality, nobody comes near the N96, not even the iPhone??hmmm lets see to that is few days. Cutting long story short the N96, will be available in India in the month of September and will be available for Rs. 30,000. The N96 is a multimedia powerhouse that packs 16GB of internal memory, double of what the N95 Black has and can carry upto 18,000 songs, 20,000 images and you can carry upto 20 full length movies. If this is less then you can also expand its memory to 24 GB, did i hear you guys saying phew??? The post below will give you all details on the N96. Morning, I told you about N96 coming to India, but i was wrong, it will take time to come to India, atleast a month.

BlackBerry will soon be launching its iPhone killer the BlackBerry Thunder, which has a fully functional touch screen. Crackberry, a reputed source on BlackBerry has reported that the Thunder from the BlackBerry stable will sport a touch screen with Haptic Technology. The Haptic Technology enables the touch screen of the phone to give real time feedback when pressed. The user can actually feel the buzz on his/her fingertip where they have pressed the screen. The phone’s keypad will change to QWERTY in landscape mode and to SureType in portrait mode, automatically. The BlackBerry Thunder will be the first phone from RIM’s stable that will not have a physical QWERTY keyboard. Thunder will be launching in the month of September and will also be called BlackBerry 9500.

After launching two E Series monsters, Nokia is getting ready to launch its iPhone Killer the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, earlier it was called XpressMedia, dont know the reason behind this sudden change. Check out the Nokia 5800 promotional flyer below.

But as far as I know Nokia had said that they would be launching their 5800 or Tube by the end of this year. So why these sudden promos. I think this promo flyer is the work of some photoshop expert cause, if you see closely, the words, "XpressMusic" and "Nokia 5800" are not written in Nokia's regular font size and style. What say????
