The iPhone 3G is not yet officially launched in India, but it’s up there on eBay India for 27,000 INR, that’s pretty strange. The iPhone is officially being launched in India by AirTel and Vodafone next week. The entry on eBay says that the iPhone that is on sale is unlockable, which point only to one direction that someone has got it from US (don’t k now how) and put it on sale.
I read the description below only after writing this post, so my guess was right!!!
This is what the entry on eBay says,
This is BRAND NEW, Apple iPhone 3G 16GB.
Original Purchase was made from the Apple Store in NYC
Keep in mind this is BRAND NEW and has only been opened to be activated!!
There should be a software unlock utitity available shortly (in the next week or so), and I will send the link as soon as it is available.
This auction comes with:

* 1 Original Box
* 1 Stereo Headphone with Mic
* 1 Dock Connecter to USB Cable

It can't get more ridiculous & funny than this. People are actually bidding for an iphone for close to 30K that could be available legally in India for about a third of the price in a week.
