F305 Hello Kitty Phone.jpg

Remember the Sony Ericsson F305, gaming phone with motion control; now Sony Ericsson has come up with the Hello Kitty Edition of this gaming phone. The Hello Kitty Edition, as you must have guessed, will target the users in Japan. Hello Kitty is pretty popular in Japan. It is one of the best-known of many simply drawn fictional characters produced by the Japanese company Sanrio. The phone has EDGE speeds, a Memory Stick Micro slot, a 2-inch 176 x 220 display and some music playback features. The F305 has a accelerometer, apt for playing motion controlled games. Even the screen is pretty big for playing strategy games. They could have put some first person shooter games also, it would have been fun.

Everyone knows that touch screen phones are high on Nokia's agenda and the company is very much focused on getting the touch screen phones in the hands of mass market. Nokia recently launched its first touch screen phone the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic a.k.a the Nokia Tube. According to latest insider information from Gizmovil, Nokia will soon be coming out with touch enabled phones that support the N Gage gaming platform and plans to launch 30 N Gage compatible games by the end of 2009. These games wont be availabe on Nokia Tube as it does not support the N Gage platform. Touch screen gaming on mobile phones is still in its nascent stage. Nokia has already announced that it will soon be launching touch enabled N Series phones.

Spice Mobile Communications is known for coming up with phones that have something different in them. Earlier the company came up with a mobile phone for the blind, and then it launched a PDA that can have two SIM cards, GSM and CDMA. Now, in order to target the rising Indian mobile gaming population, Spice has come up with Spice X-1 that has a dedicated mobile gaming console. The phone has a big 2.4 inch screen (which is must for any gaming phone these days). 2 GB memory and a gaming console to play games. Other features include, Yamaha- amplified 3D Surround Sound, FM Radio and 2 mega pixel snapper. All this just for 9000 INR is just a steal man!!!! And yeah, if you don’t like consoles, then the phone has dedicated gaming keys, pretty cool!!!

Nokia’s popular gaming platform, N Gage that was available only on phones like N81, N82 and the N95 8GB is now being made available by Nokia for its other phones like, 5320 XpressMusic, N78 and the N96. People were not that happy when Nokia made this gaming platform available just for the N81 and the N81 8GB, when it had so many other phones that had the capability for porting this platform. But as you say, we learn from our own mistakes, Nokia is also making this platform available on other phones from its stable. Now I am waiting to see if the Nokia Tube will have any N Gage support???

The new Sony Ericsson F305 with Motion Gaming puts 'fun and entertainment' at the heart of the mobile phone. In addition to horizontal gameplay and dedicated gaming controls – to let you control the action the way you are used to – the F305 lets the user control the action with a swing or a swipe of the phone.

Today's announcement sees Sony Ericsson putting gaming at the heart of its latest phone release. Targeted firmly at a youth audience, the F305 with Motion Gaming lets users control games with the flick of a wrist or the swing of an arm, and then see the results straightaway on the screen. Using advanced motion sensor technology, the phone can, for example, follow your actions to imitate bowling or casting a fishing line.

I told you about the rumor that was going around that, Sony Ericsson is launching some mobile phones on June 17th. Amongst the phones, that are going to be launched, Sony Ericsson will be launching the F305, a gaming phone, which sadly is not the PSP phone.

Without making any ho hum about it, Nokia has launched its N Gage gaming service at the CTIA 2008. This service has been getting delayed from last 2, 3 months and now Nokia has finally launched it by making the N Gage website go live, formally it will be announced on Monday. By the way Nokia is already selling six games that run on N Gage platform for five handsets.Game developers are expecting to develop more games for the N Gage platform with Monday release talking about more games and more phones that will support the N Gage gaming platform, most of them would be the N Series handsets. I went to the N Gage website and was just exploring it more when I noticed that currently Nokia is offering N Gage on N95, N95 8GB, N82, N81, N81 8GB. It also says that the N Gage application will be soon available for N73, N93i, and N93. Also, before you plan to buy any game you can try it for free before buying. Some of the popular Games are FIFA, Midnight Pool, SIMS, Bounce, One, Asphalt 3D, Poker,Tetris.
Nokia started its Next Episode in Entertainment some time back with entertainment as t priority; it has done pretty well in music and internet enabled phones and now with the N Gage service finally starting, Nokia might do well on the gaming front...other mobile phone players...Are you game??

Inside sources of the NokNok TV have told them that Nokia’s N-Gage Gaming service will be launched coming Tuesday. This service will let users enjoy gaming console quality graphics on their mobile, download games and play against their peers.

After some executive from Sony saying that PlayStation branded Sony Ericsson phone is a possibility, I was thinking that this phone will be a sexy gadget, which will sell like hot cakes. But, Sony Computer Entertainment has officially said that there is no possibility that, a PlayStation phone will be launched. Sony Computer Entertainment has also said that they are not working with Sony Ericsson on such project. First one of their executive says they are doing it after two days the company says they are not doing it…..is this some kind of joke or hype building activity…time will tell.

After blogging about Sony Ericsson coming out with a PlayStation branded phone, I came across this piece of information on Economic Times. It’s like getting the some information about the possibility of Sony Ericsson PlayStation branded phone from the horses’ mouth. A Sony Executive has said that Sony Ericsson and Sony coming out with PlayStation branded phone is not a fictional thought and is quite possible.

As far as my opinion goes, if Sony and Sony Ericsson come out with such phone it will be major success and might give tough time to Nokia’s N-Gage. Interestingly, the US Patents and Trademark Office has already received an application from the Japanese major’s cellular telephony arm, Sony Ericsson, for a mobile device with video game features.
PlayStation is one of the most popular and well accepted gadget around the world and a phone with PlayStation like functionalities will garner a lot of attention from both, the media and gaming enthusiasts.
