With the recent news of Intel winning Nokia as a customer, everybody was of the opinion that this was Intel's attempt get a head start in the world of mobile phones. But there is more than mobile phones in this relationship between these two companies, who are leaders in their own domain, though in the recent times they are being challenged by their closest competitors. Intel will ow be licensing Nokia's HSPA capable 3G modem IP and see how it can be used in future mobile devices. Intel these days is aggressively campaigning (in India, don't know about other countries) about how the company is busy making humanity's future. Anyway, both these companies will also be working on their Linux babies, Nokia's Maemo and Intel's Moblin. Maemo is a version of Linux that powers Nokia's Internet tablets. Moblin is a Linux based system that is capable of running on Intel Atom processors. Intel's Atom processors are used mostly by companies like Dell, Acer, HP in their Nebooks. There is a possibility that Nokia will use the Moblin project along with its Maemo and come up with a tablet that can be more than being just an Internet Tablet....are we talking about Netbooks here??
