One of its kind Mobile Phone Blog, that gives you views and news about mobile phones from India and across the world. I am in love with Nokia and their phones but I also write about other mobile guys. Think Mobile..Think NAMP!!!!

Most of you guys must be knoiwng that you can set-up WLAN on your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. If you want to use WLAN on your Nokia 5800, you need to creat a IAP or Internal Access Point. Here is how you use the WLAN wizard to created an access point,

  • Select Menu > Settings.

  • Select Connectivity > Wireless LAN.

  • If the search finds WLANs, to create an internet access point, tap on the connection, select Options > Start web browsing If you select a secured WLAN, you will be asked to enter the relevant password. To connect to a hidden network, you must enter the correct network name (service set identifier, SSID).

  • To end the active connection, select the connection > Options and Disconnect WLAN

So whenever you are plan to browse the Internet you can set-up the device so that its asks, whether you wants to use WLAN or packet data connection like GPRS to access the web.

im having trouble connecting to the internet with my nokia 5800 i cant connect either through my 02 network or through my wireless router i have treid the above but no luck any ideas?

  4. Jagged Arrow Head

i guess allow your wireless router to access the ip/mac address of your 5800. Once this is in the MAC address list of the router your 5800 can access Internet

does this cost the phone credit ?

  6. Jagged Arrow Head

If you are suing free WLAN then it will be a absolutely free man..

Everytime I try to connect it keeps saying "WLAN network not found!" I have a router and this error message comes after I enter my security pin? how do I fix it? Please help :s

  8. Jagged Arrow Head

@anonymous - First make sure that your wireless router is allowing the MAC address of the 5800. The mac address of 5800 can be found on the box. Use this and type it in the safe MAC address list of your routers settings. After that restart the router and then try searching for the network using 5800, it should work. If not mail me at vikramdeo[at]nampblog[dot]com

ive connected to the wlan...but i cannot surf the net...Y???...it pop a msg "no getway reply"..help me..skitzophrenic@gmail.com

@Kamil - It seems that there is some problem with your internet connection provider. There is no problem with the Phone. The phone is sending the signal but there is no reply from your internet gateway. Do, one thing, restart ur internet set-up and wireless router and then again give the MAC id of your 5800 to the wireless router and see if uit works.

I just came across your blog.nice one.I got this question i just got a 5800 express music phone and i tried to connect to the wireless connection from work. The signal is excelent but i cant connect. It says you are connected to wireless but when i tried to connect to the internet it says not found.what am i doing wrong.Anon

  16. Jagged Arrow Head

@Anonymous - Hmm..this is pretty strange, if you are getting connected toi wireless then you should be able to browse the Internet. Sometimes you get connected to the wireless but the connection is local and it does not get connected to the Internet. So i would recommend restart your wireless equipment and try connecting again.

    Hi,
i am having no problems by connecting via my Wireless Router its just that i asked a couple of months ago I.e Vodafone how much it costs to connect through the router to go on to the internet and he sed it costs more than it would if you was using the Contract internet.

I want to know how to make it free!.... and why are they charging me if i am connecting through MY wireless router. ???? =/

  18. Jagged Arrow Head

@anonymous - I really dont understand what are you trywing to say here mate. See wirless router just make you the broadband abvailable wirelessly, its depends on who is your service provider, if you are using vodafone's internet service or any other guy who provides broadband services they will certainly charge you./.i guess i have answered your problem...if you want you can mail me at vikramdeo[AT]nampblog[DOT]com

Everything fine but I would like to set up a name for my 5800 so that when showing the IP on my router I can identify it as my phone and not some other device (some cannot be named). How can I set the phone name linked to the IP as 'My5800' or similar ?
    Thx
