OK, I am really late in posting this piece of information but its really an interesting and good news for all of you who have been longing for high speed data and voice connection on your mobile phones. MTNL has launched its 3G mobile services in India. Initially premium users in Delhi area would be getting this service on their MTNL connections. The service was unveiled by Manmohan Singh on behalf of MTNL at the India Telecom 2008 event. There is no news on the pricing of this service from MTNL and also on what other regions this service will be launched. The 3G service from MTNL will be called Jadoo or Magic. Motorola is supplyiong the 3G infrastructure for these services to go live.
BSNL has also kept its promise of launching the 3G services; the company will be launching its services in Chennai in the month of Jan 2009. Earlier BSNL was supposed to launch the services in December 2008, better late than never. There is no news from both the service providers on the pricing of this service. But as it is launched by MTNL for its premium customers so I guess initially the cost will be high and once a lot of guys start offering it, the prices might go down. So we do finally have 3G in India, Yipeee!!!
