Motion Sensor technology was something that was not at all connected to mobile phones. In the past 7 to 8 months, the technology of sensing motions has penetrated the world of mobile phones. First its was that motion sensor was used in mobile games like the Groove Ball in the Nokia 5500 or just to change your songs by flick of the phone. Now the technology has been used to many things in mobile phones. Gadgets like the Nintendo Wii, took motion sensing to different heights. Apple’s iPhone, LG Secret, all made motion sensing technology the “in” thing. Like its counterparts, Sony Ericsson has also tied up with GestureTek. This partnership will enable Sony Ericsson to get motion controlling sensor technology on its mobile phones. With this, Sony Ericsson phones will get games that will run on this technology; users can control the game characters just by tilting the mobile phone. This technology will be used in the upcoming and existing mobile phone models of Sony Ericsson. Sony Ericsson is very positive with this Wii like technology getting onto mobile phones and so am I, but how the Wii like technology will feel like on mobile phones, is a big question. By the way, Sony Ericsson had the motion control technology in one of their music phone some time back, remember Shake me, Sense me in the W580???

Sony Ericsson has launched its latest generation Walkman phone in the APAC market this October. The new Walkman whone, W910i is different because it has two unique features, “Shake Me” and “Sense Me” feature. This phone, along with excellent music, provides high-speed web access and some cool multimedia functionalities like 3D Games, Video etc.

Actually the Shake Me feature is not the first time for Sony Ericsson, its earlier modeW580 had this feature and I blogged about it. This is really a very innovative feature when it comes to mobile handsets. However, the Sense Me feature is pretty cool in the W910i, Sense Me is a completely new way, which helps you in browsing your playlists. Rather than creating playlists based on artists or albums, you can create them based on your mood….WOW pretty cool feature, I must say..but lets see how this feature does in the market cause very few mobile phones with unique features do well in the market. Like the Nokia 5500 Sport, this phone has Sports/Calorie counting feature but, the phone is damn fuked up with lot of drawbacks apart from Music and you will be surprised to know that I myself carry this phone…anyways..lets get back to what I was talking about…yah the W910i.

The W910i comes with 2Gb of Memory Stick that means almost 900 songs…..of course..it’s a Walkman phone so everything else takes a back seat.
The phone will be available in two colors, Hearty Red and Noble Black.

I recently blogged about the Sony-Ericsson W580i. The first shipments of the W580i are reported to be faulty. People are complaining that the keypad of the phone is coming off and is kind of cracky. Many phones, which were sold have been returned so Sony Ercisson guys have stopped the shipment of this phone, which are in transit. This is the same phone, which has the shake feature. And with the keypad coming off, I think the W580i competes with the Nokia 5500 sports, when it comes to this faulty feature of cracking keypads.
The good thing is that Sony Ericsson guys are sensible and are trying to stop the shipments but Nokia enjoys seeing people coming at their service center with the same problem, again and again!!!
