Nokia N96 was launched in India at the same price point of the 8GB iPhone. BUt feature wise this new Nokia multimedia monster is far ahead as compared to the iPhone. I am not criticizing the iPhone, the iPhone is a superb piece of gadget but mobile phones today should be more on useful functionality and not just jazzy touch screens and looks. Here is the new Nokia N96 commercial for the Indian market.

Nokia has officially launched the Nokia N96 in India. Nokia is arranging launch events in big cities of India and yesterday the event was organized in Delhi. The Nokia N96 is touted as the iPhone killer. The Nokia N96 will be available at a retail price of 34,999, which is very high. Nokia claims the phone can store up to 18,000 songs, 20,000 images, has a 5 mega pixel camera, up to 60 hours of video and full length movies. With such a high price attached to the N96 I doubt if it will really prove to be an iPhone killer. Features wise it is way too ahead of the iPhone. The N96 launch event will be organized tomorrow in Bangalore. The phone will be available at retail stores 15th September onwards.

As we all know that the iPhone price is out in India and it costs a bomb in India. Many people including me are not happy with the iPhone 3G pricing in India. Don’t believe me, just check the conversations of people on Twitter regarding iPhone 3G’s pricing. Apple are you reading this, don't you feel that you are making a mistake by doing this and companies like Nokia and Samsung would be ready to add insult to the injury.
