Remember the imaging phone from Samsung with massive 12 meg snapper, this time an upgraded version of the same Pixon has popped up and now its sports a 3X optical Zoom along with the digital zoom. This makes the Pixon 12 a perfect convergence of a mobile phone and a standard digital camera. These details were revealed in a press photo that popped up and looking at that photo its seems that only Koreans will get their hands on the Pixon 12 with 3X optical zoom, as Anycall is the name under which Samsung sells its mobile phones in Korea. This new upgraded version of the Pixon 12 will be hit with the shutterbugs thanks to its 3X optical zoom and dual Xenon flash, which makes it super cool. The Pixon 12 (without the 3X optical zoom) was recently launched in India.  [Via]

pixon-12-1.jpgSamsung has recently launched its 12 megapixel monster, Pixon 12 in India. The phone was officially unveiled (Worldwide) by Samsung in the month of June 2009. Looking at its specs, the phone looks more like a digital camera with voice communication functionality. The Pixon 12 AKA Samsung M8910 boasts of touch auto focus ( like the iPhone 3GS), Xenon Flash, Image stabilizer, 28mm wide angle lens, auto set-up based on environment, face and smile detection, DVD resolution video recording. The Pixon 12 is positioned as an perfect imaging phone. Apart from the imaging features, the phone's other features are pretty impressive with 3.1 inch AMOLED touch screen, HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, DivX and XviD support and microSD slot. Pixon 12 is the successor of the Pixon 8 and was supposed to launch at the Mobile World Congress 2009 but didn't make it. Now it has come in India and will be available at a retail price of INR 29,990.

It was rumored to be coming in the Nokia World 2009 but it did not, there have been talks about It coming every month but nobody ever got any pics or any info about the Nokia phones with a 12 meg snapper until today. Chilko of Mobile Bulgaria has got his hands on a picture that shows a Nokia phone with 12 meg snapper. Check out the picture below, Cellpassion picked it from Chilko's Twitter account. To me, the phone looks like a more enhanced version of the N93i and the back paneling is pretty unusual.

Recently Samsung announced the launch of Pixon 12, its first mobile phone with 12 megapixel snapper that didn't make It to the Mobile World Congress 2009 but will see the light soon. Beat this, it is rumored that Samsung is going to announce a new phone with 12 mega pixel snapper and 3X optical zoom and Xenon flash in the second week of June. Optical zoom is one feature that most mobile phone camera users have been craving for and Samsung will the first one to give it to them. The pace at which Samsung is launching these high-end imaging phones makes you think, what exactly are they planning to do with this huge and costly portfolio of imaging phones. I guess this one the Pixon 12 only and not any other imaging phone from the Korean mobile giant. [Via]

Meet the newest 12 megapixel snapper phone on the block. The phone also features Xenon flash, digital zoom, face recognition, shake reduction and beauty shot. Other features include. 31. inch AMOLED screen, quad-band GSM, GPS, Wi-Fi, HSUPA, social networking support via SharePix and FM radio with RDS. But every time some company launches a phone with massive camera specs like these, I keep asking is it worth the buy or just another effort to show your technological prowess? Anyway, Pixon 12 will be available in June across European markets, no info on the pricing as well as availability in other markets like Asia and US.

SAMSUNG_SCH_W740_002.jpg

Samsung has launched one more mobile phone with a 8 mega pixel snapper, the Samsung SCH-W740. The phone's 8 mega pixel snapper features a Auto Focus and Face Tagging feature. You and me have heard of mobile phone cameras with geo tagging, now what the hell is Face Tagging? When you add a tag to someones picture you have clicked and he is in your phone book, then you can send a SMS or call that person directly from the image, ain't it cool!! You browsing through your personal album and you are looking at your girlfriend's picture, you can send a SMS or call her instantly. The phone's camera has other features like Auto Focus, Face Detection, different scenery modes and a Business Card scanner. As of now, the phone will be available in the Korean market. Other mobile phones from Samsung that feature a 8 mega pixel snapper are the Samsung Pixon and the Samsung INNOVATE.

8 to 9 years back having a mobile phone in India was a luxury and then having a camera phone was like having a Vertu mobile phone these days. Gradually mobile phones started to become a commodity and the their prices came down and now if you see, most of the Indians who have a mobile phone will have camera in it. Phones these days come equipped with cameras that will give run for money to most of the mainstream point and shoot cameras available in the market. Camera phones are becoming popular these days in India. According to latest survey by a market research company, ORG MARG, demand for mobile phones with camera has increased to 3%, Indians go for mobile phones that have a camera and this is the reason camera phones now account for 36% of the market. Availability of functions like auto focus, Xenon flash, LED flash, Face & Smile Detection, expandable memory, zoom and crisp resolution are instrumental in the growth of camera phone market in India. This coupled with, OEMs tying up with companies like Carl Zeiss, Schneider, Kodak etc for their camera phones make the consumers go for these phones.

Bresson_Samsung Samsung is once again geared up to launch its new touch screen phone with 8 mega-pixel snapper. This one comes few weeks after Samsung launched its another Symbian based mobile phone, INNOVATE. Even INNOVATE had 8 mega-pixel snapper and whooping 16 GB of beefed up memory for all your multimedia needs. The new mobile phone will be called as the M8800 or Samsung Bresson M8800. The mobile phone boasts of 16 million color 3.2 inch scree, HSDPA data transfers and built-in GPS functionality. Now if you are wondering that why this new mobile phone is called Bresson then you wont be much surprised to hear the reasoning behind this. Apparently there is a rumor going on that Samsung might have named this phone after the famous French photographer, Henry Cartier Bresson. Now you don’t get any point for guessing that, this phone is any photographer's handy tool for clicking some good shots. With Bresson, Samsung has improved the overall multimedia experience that its previous phone like the Omnia and the INNOVATE are giving. Bresson is just 15.5 mm thick and many people including me are of this opinion that it will compete well with Nokia's N96 rather than the iPhone. Anyway, this baby looks one hell of an imaging phone man!!! What do you guys say??

TIPA or the Technical Image Press Association of Europe is not unknown they are the authority when it comes to recognizing best photo and imaging products in Europe. That said, this time TIPA has given the 2008 award of "Best Mobile Imaging Device" to Nokia's multimedia monster and N95 sibling, the Nokia N82. For the uninformed Nokia N 82 is a high end N Series multimedia device with 5 mega pixel camera and Xenon flash (first Nokia phone to have Xenon flash).

This is what TIPA had to say about N82:
"The N82 by Nokia is a compact multimedia computer that integrates phone, GPS, web, video and music functions around a 5 megapixel camera with a high-speed, f/2.8 autofocus lens. This Carl Zeiss Tessar focuses from 10cm to infinity and produces sharp prints up to and beyond A4 size. A 20X digital zoom is available to help users get closer to the subject, and though the exposure is automatic, it can be adjusted with exposure compensation of +/- 2EV. As in a traditional camera, the user can select different white balance settings to shoot accurate colours, even in fluorescent or tungsten lighting. Several scene modes are also available to optimize the N82 for great images, whether shooting portraits or night shots. This 112g mobile device adopts a Xenon flash and comes with a 100MB of internal memory, but this can be expanded to 8GB with a microSD card."

I think when it came to choosing the Best Mobile Imaging Device, it would have been hard for TIPA to choose between Sony Ericsson K850, which is also a great imaging phone, just like the N82.
