Not Another Mobile Phone Blog

One of its kind Mobile Phone Blog, that gives you views and news about mobile phones from India and across the world. I am in love with Nokia and their phones but I also write about other mobile guys. Think Mobile..Think NAMP!!!!

The most rumored, speculated and hyped, 3G iPhone was launched yesterday by Steve Jobs during his patent Key Address @ WWDC 2008. As showcased, let me tell you something more about the 3G iPhone, it will be thinner at edges (rumor monger said that it would be slim overall), the buttons on the side are of metal and the backside of the phone will be made of plastic. The phone will have flush-headphone jack and will also come in white (the rumors speculated a white iPhone). Apart from the aesthetics of the phones, as expected the phone will be GPS enabled and location based services is one area where the company is focusing on. 3G iPhone, when compared to other 3G phones like the Nokia N95 and Treo 750, showed faster results while browsing the Internet. No wonder, 80% of the iPhone users use iPhone for browsing the Internet. Also, as speculated, the 3G iPhone is not having any camera, that can be used for video conferencing, on the front. In terms of battery life, its 5 hours talk time on 3G networks, 7 hours of video playback, 24 hours of audio playback and 6 hours of web browsing.

The old iPhone is now available at $399 and to my surprise the 3G iPhone with 8GB storage will retail at just $199. The 16GB model will be available at the retail price of $299, with a choice of white color. Out of the 70 countries that are getting the 3G iPhone, 22 countries will be the lucky ones who will get it first. This 3G baby will only come after July 11 2008 (there were rumors/speculations that the 3G iPhone will be available immediately after its announcement at the WWDC 2008). The 3G iPhone will have enough enterprise support and will compete with the Communicators and the BlackBerrys out there.
So finally, the most awaited gadget of the year is launched, with most of the rumors about it coming out to be true. Now the rumor mills will slowdown for sometime or who knows, they might start again with BlackBerry Thunder and Nokia Tube speculated to be launched this year.
Apart from iPhone, Apple also unveiled the iPhone 2.0 software that includes iWork, App Store and Office document support. It will be shipped along with the iPhone.
