There are many customers of Vodafone India who swear names on the company and are frustrated with the kind of service the company is providing. Even some of my friends are suffering being the customers of Vodafone. Now to add to this, Delhi State Consumer Commission has fines Vodafone $117,000 for fooling customers. Vodafone last year had launched a campaign where, if a subscriber is calling from his phone and his calls exceed more than 20 minutes per day, then he /she would be eligible for prizes ranging from gold coins to car. Now, this contest was not taken in right spirits by the Delhi State Commission and according to them this comes under unethical practice of minting money. The service provider even appealed against this but it failed and they have to pay the fine imposed upon them. Mobile service providers in India, sometimes harass people to the core with unnecessary tele-marketing calls, advertisements and contests, which nobody wins except the service provider. Fines like this will be helpful in keeping a check on such kind of mobile service providers.
