Yesterday I posted on Videocon foraying into the mobile handset manufacturing business and also its dreams to built an end-to-end telecom network. Telecom Tiger reports that Videocon has pretty ambitious plans and is planning to capture 10% of the Indian telecom sector. Also, the company will be rolling out their telecom network from August 2008. This indeed is a very ambitious dream by a company, which is not at all related with mobile phones and the telecommunications industry. Telecom Tiger has also said that the company ready for entering into alliances to boost its telecom business. This is a good strategy by Videocon given the cutthroat competition in the Indian telecommunications sector. I hope they apply some of their TV and audio related technologies to their mobile phones. I would not be surprised if they launch a mobile phone, Videocon Bazooka (if you don’t know, Videocon Bazooka was a very popular Television model in the Indian market.) Also, Videocon will be focusing on the CDMA technology for rolling out mobile services in the country.
