Nokia has come with a new smart phone design project called "Design by Community". In today's world of user generated content, companies are focusing more on what users are looking for and not what the companies want them to see or use. Nokia, amidst growing competition from other smart phone rivals like Apple, RIM, HTC and Samsung has kick started this project where it is asking people to choose the design of the next smart phone. In a recent survey, very few people actually said that they want to buy a Nokia smartphone.Design by Community started in March and saw 72,000 respondents. People who participated wanted their next smartphone to have, Big capacitive display, open source mobile OS, multi-tasking, Wi-Fi, high definition outputs, Dolby sound, 8MP camera and video recording. Nokia Conversations will soon be putting up a 3D render of this next generation smart phone on its site. I am sure Nokia will incorporate a lot of feedback into their smartphone making process. Nokia is doing good in cheap and mid-range phones, where it is more of a volume game but when it comes to smartphones, some of its newest ones have left the users high and dry like the Nokia N97. Lets see what Nokia brings to us next.
