Sometime back I posted a Short User Review of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Some of my readers, who own this new touch screen from Nokia commented saying, "hi i have bought a new nokia 5800 the problem i have is it automatically gets switch of sometimes..can any one help me with this." Surprisingly, one more commenter said the same thing, so i just googled and found out that many people have been facing this problem with their newly purchased Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, the phone suddenly switches off. So here is the possible solution, either you have some protective covering your light sensor and you need to remove that cover or there is a dense chance that your battery is faulty. Faulty batteries may lead to such problems. If nothing is working then you need to go to the Nokia Care Center and get it fixed. As far as I have experienced they will replace the handset if its a factory issue. Hope this is helpful.

i used to have both problems
1) speakers :-sol is change ur speakers
2)automatic switch off:- sol is take the battery and clean or spread the battery power generator an place it .It will work fine.

@Vibhor - its better you you show your phone to the Care Center. Hanging while getting switched ON can be a software problem or too much data loaded on your phone

nokia 2112 it is going switched off after few seconds. It was working fine for two years. Now it is giving problem after replacing the display.

how is camera clarity is 5800? similar to n 73 or better than that?

In bright light, the camera output in great. You might not like it in night or low light conditions. I think it is a bit better than the 73 but not a huge improvement.

@the headphonejack and the switch off button on the 5800 are near to each other and a faulty connection might be cuasing this problem for you.; Better to show it to Nokia Care center and get it rectified, if its under warranty then its well and good...ask for a new phone refund..

well my 5800 switched off in the process of updating the software after that im not able to turn it on it just keeps on vibrating when switched on as it had a accidental damage before i could not use the warranty what can i do.. !!!

i guess there must have been some problem with the update try reseting the phone or show it the care center guys!!

That is true, It happened to my brand new nokia 5800 on day 3 since its arrival! Phone switched off and would'nt turn on again. I have tried everything thats posted online..surprisingly hundreds of people are having the same problem with this model. To add to it nokia customer care refuses to acknowledge that this is an issue. Luckily I bought the phone from amazon and I they agreed to replace it for free. Now I have been a loyal nokia user for the last 10 years, and I feel totally let down, nokia is feeling the pressure from other competitors and churning out garbage engineering like this!!!

I bought nokia 5800 4months ago and got 1year warranty along with earphones etc. Now one of the earphones are not working can i get warranty now..
