SE Android.jpgAlmost three months back, Sony Ericsson had shown its interest over getting Android on their recently launched range of high-end multimedia handsets, the XPERIA range. However for its first handset from the XPERIA range, the X1 Sony Ericsson stuck to Windows Mobile as the mobile phone's OS. It seems that, three months back Sony Ericsson was doing some serious thinking when it comes to the Android platform because the company has officially announced that it will be joining the Open Handset Alliance, the consortium behind Android. Sony Ericsson has also said that, it is very much open to having Android on its forthcoming phones. Sony Ericsson also said that, its experince in the Walkman and Cyber-Shot range of handsets will help them ingiving valuable inputs for future handsets that come out of the Open Handset Allaince and are multimedia focused. So do not be surprised if you see forthcoming Sony Ericsson handsets with Android OS. So now you know, upcoming Android handsets are certain to have good sound quality and imaging functionality, courtsey Sony Ericsson's wealth of experience in these areas og mobile phone technology.

    It seems that many manufacturers are undecided about their future OS.

    Symbian Foundation and Open Handset Alliance are both collecting the same members.

    Yeah you are very correct Renegade, all these companies want some shares of all the mobile OSs. They just want to make sure that if any of the OS clicks with the consumer, they are the ones who have a handset running on that OS. may be going forward these all consortiums like Symbian Foundation, OHA, LiMo will form one big OS consortium.
