India is becoming an increasingly attractive and competitive market for all the major mobile handset OEMs of the world. Nokia (who has plans lined up for India, so that they don’t loose the grip of this profitable market) rules the Indian market. This is the case in all the emerging markets of the world. Players like Samsung are trying their best to topple Nokia from its Numero Uno position with tactics like poaching Nokia Sales Director. This time Samsung has chosen new way to tackle Nokia; they will be attacking Nokia by bringing cheap color phones in the market. They will bring color mobile phones, which will cost 40$-50$ to fight Nokia. This move by Samsung indicates that, the number 2 player is not satisfied with its current position and wants Nokia to face some seriously stiff competition, especially in emerging markets like India, where Nokia enjoys economies of scale and well-integrated distribution channels.
