The Nokia touch screen phone, Nokia 5800 also known as the Tube, which surfaced some time back this week on a Czech mobile phone blog will be launched in the month of October, 2nd October to be precise. There is no official news from Nokia on this, but the rumor market is pretty hot with the news of Tube's launch. This news has also been reported by the reputed news source, Reuters. There is no official communication from Nokia on the launch date of the Tube. The only thing that Nokia has confirmed that, the Tube will be launched by the end of 2008. But don't you think that, October is like almost end of the year 2008?? Anyway's, lets see what's in store in the first week of October. One thing is sure that the Tube is important when it comes to Nokia's strategy to penetrate the touch screen mobile phone market. The pictures are of the User Interface of the Nokia Tube. These UI pics leaked in August.

5800 Nokia's much awaited iPhone killer the Nokia 5800 also known as the XpressMedia Nokia 5800 will soon be launched in the month of October. This picture of this phone leaked on this Czech mobile blog. The phone is supposed to launch on October 2nd. Like Nokia has told earlier, Nokia 5800 will be targeted at the mid-range market. The phone has a 3.2 inch touch screen with Symbian S60 Touch. The phone also sports a 3 mega pixel snapper with auto focus. Other features of this phone include, QUAD Band GSM support, 3G HSDPA, GPS functionality, 3.5 mm audio jack, TV Out slot, microSD card support (8GB card included in the retail package). The whole world is waiting for this phone to come out as it is the first phone by Nokia with full touch screen functionality. This phone, though called as the iPhone killer will not directly target the current users of the iPhone as it targets the mid-range segment of the market and not the high-end segment. Lets see what happens on October 2nd, even I am waiting for that day.

Nokia has confirmed the launch of touch screen handsets by this year end. The touch screen handsets will not just have the Nokia Tube but Nokia is more focused on launching handsets across all price levels. Touch screen handsets is something that is always associated with high price but Nokia wants to launch touch screen mobile handsets that can be afforded by people across the target market and not just those who can pay the high price attached to these handsets. The later half of 2008 is certainly going to witness the launch of much awaited Nokia Tube or the Nokia 5800 from its rumored XpressMedia series. To tell you guys, earlier Nokia touch screen phones like the Nokia 7710 and the Nokia 6708 (manufactured by BenQ) didn’t click with the customers. But, Nokia 5800 along with the S60 Touch has lot of promises in the kitty for Nokia as well as Nokia’s existing and prospective customers. Though Nokia is not visibly upset with what Apple’s iPhone is doing to their market share in the US, but deep down somewhere they know that they need to stop Apple from eating fruits of Nokia’s handwork.

The Finnish iPhone killer, Nokia 5800 XpressMedia a.k.a Nokia Tube is ready to be launched. These are the live pictures of this phone that were posted on Flickr profile, “giusdama77” (even if you try to click, it won't help as the account is deleted). Talking about the pictures, this phone has a bigger touch screen than the iPhone and I can also see the words XpressMedia written on the tip of the phone. This one is a Vodafone branded prototype of the Nokia Tube. As told earlier the phone will have a 3.2 mega-pixel snapper, 3G support and a large touch screen and will sport the latest version of the S60 Touch that is going to be launched soon.
