The first Vertu phone was launched by Nokia in the year 1998. Many of us don't know that Very is a Nokia brand and Nokia has always kept itself disconnected from its Vertu brand as Vertu is a uber-premium brand of mobile phones. This year, Vertu is celebrating its 10th anniversary. As a part of its 10th anniversary Vertu also launched its popular Constellation and classic Rococo collection of premium mobile phones. As a part of its 10th anniversary celebrations Vertu chose Michelle Yeoh as the person who signifies all qualities of the Vertu range of mobile phones. Michelle Yeoh, as you know is a popular Chinese actress who has acted in movies like, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Tomorrow Never Dies, Memoirs of a Geisha and many more. Like Vertu, Michelle signifies, finesse, class, strength and exquisiteness. Maybe that is the reason Michelle was the chosen by Vertu as its main protagonist of its print media campaigns. You can see Michelle posing with Vertu Rococo in the image above.

Today it is the 10th anniversary of the famous mobile OS company Symbian.10 years back Symbian in 1998 Symbian was born and the Nokia 6160 was the first fun phone to run on Symbian, at that time who would have thought that Symbian and Nokia would go on to become one of the world’s leading companies in their own domain. Symbian today is a leader in smart phone OS market and Nokia is a leader in the mobile handset market. Later in the year 2000 Symbian OS v6.0/6.1 was launched, in the same year, Ericsson R380 was launched. The phone was a Symbian based flip phone. The phone had SMS and e-mail functionality and during that time it was called a smart phone. When we look at smart phones of today we realize that they can do things that many portable computers can do, simply amazing. 2001 saw the birth of S60 that was previously known as Series 60. S60 is a software platform fro mobile phone that is based on Symbian. Today S60 is one of best smart phone platform around. Nokia developed the S60 platform and licensed it top other mobile handset OEMs around the world. Nokia 9210 was also born in this year and the same year Nokia released its first phone on the S60 platform, the Nokia 7650 slider smart phone, which became very popular with its smart looks, sliding form factor and also a nice snapper. The following years saw many good developments in the S60 platform as well as the Symbian OS. Also, Symbian as a company saw many big companies coming and joining its mobile OS cause. Today big wigs like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung etc, support Symbian as a company as well as Symbian as a mobile OS. In 2008, Symbian shipped its 30 millionth handset in Japan, now that shows the popularity and acceptance of Symbian mobile OS. Symbian as a company has partnered with many other industry leading products and services providers. Thanks Symbian for giving us a smart phone platform that is really smart enough to keep you going all these years. Happy Anniversary!!!
