Apart from features like Bluetooth, Radio etc, high resolution camera is one such feature on which the big daddy of mobile phones take their competition head on. Every now and then, you will see one big guy or the other talking about how good their phone's camera is and goo gaga over features like smile detection, editing, face detection and the usual photography jargons. Well now, Sony is going to fuel the camerphone competition even more as its has launched a 16 mega pixel image sensor, which is specifically targeted toward camera phone manufacturers. The company has started the commercialization of two new "Exmor R" back-illuminated CMOS image sensors with dramatically improved photographic performance including significantly high sensitivity and low noise. No brownie point if you have already started guessing who will be the first OEM to have this sensor embeded in one of its mobile phones!!!
