Not Another Mobile Phone Blog

One of its kind Mobile Phone Blog, that gives you views and news about mobile phones from India and across the world. I am in love with Nokia and their phones but I also write about other mobile guys. Think Mobile..Think NAMP!!!!

As we all know that touch screen mobile phones have become the order of the day. Touch screen phones have suddenly seen a demand in the market, thanks to the multi touch, intuitive mobile handset, the Apple iPhone, which made this all happen. Companies like Nokia, who earlier failed with touch screen phones (Nokia 7710), now are ready to launch mobile phones with touch screen that will give run for money to Apple. Nokia has already announced that it would be launching the Nokia Tube in 2008 as it is well aware of the new iPhone’s entry into markets that are dominated to Nokia. Nokia has now confirmed that it will be launching touch screen devices in the second half of 2008 and the first device from Nokia’s side will be the Nokia Tube or some call it the Nokia 5800, XpressMedia. Till now, touch screen phones from big mobile players had a big price tag attached to them, but it seems Nokia wants to keep its focus on the mid-range market when it comes to launching touch screen phones. The company has also confirmed that, Nokia Tube will play a volume game, much to my surprise, as I thought Tube will be in the price range of the iPhone. Touch screen phones from Apple and Samsung (Omnia) are for the high-end market, Nokia’s strategy is to target the mid-range market. Targeting mid-range customers in emerging countries like India will really help Nokia as they can push a lot of their touch screen phones in these markets. And if you have observed, Nokia’s mid-range phones have good camera, 3G and Wi-Fi and other multimedia features.
