Apple is coming up with their 3G iPhone and a lot of hype is being built around it. When the 3G iPhone is launched it will certainly have some impact on the marker share of the mobile giants like Nokia and Sony Ericsson. Nokia, Sony Ericsson, NEC and Alcatel-Lucent have started working together and looking towards next generation wireless technology called the 4G.To battle the iPhone out these giants have put together a licensing of patents called the Long Term Evolution and it will be launched in the US and China, two of the world's biggest mobile markets. By the way Long Term Evolution is also a rival of the WiMAX technology, which Intel is promoting. So these giants will be collectively taking their rivals head-on. If we compare 3G with LTE and WiMAX, the later are anytime better than 3G with respect to speed and connectivity and can be used in long communication and has the ability to replace the current prevaling wireless standard, WiFi. I think by doing this, these mobile communication giants want to show that 3G is a passe, the world of next generation technologies has come....and Apple you are still with 3G???
