Google and other players in the wireless communications industry have announced the new, open comprehensive mobile operating system; to the dismay of many like me who were waiting that Google will announce the much hyped/awaited/rumored Gphone. The OS will be called Android and players like T-Mobile, Samsung, LG, eBay, HTC, Motorola, Qualcomm and others have joined hands with Google for this new venture. The main purpose of this alliance is to bring out innovation in developers and give customers a better user experience. The alliance will be called Open Handset Alliance.
Google is one of the leading partners in this alliance and will compete against its arch rival Microsoft and will build its own ad-supported applications on this OS. Lets wait for some more news and views from the industry experts on this new alliance and new OS, The Android.
