Even if a lot of Nokia and Symbian fan boys are dejected with their favorite companies partnering with Microsoft, it seems Nokia will be more than happy with this partnership. The Finnish giant will be getting USD 1 billion from Microsoft. Nokia is getting all this booty because MS wants Nokia to use this to promote and develop Window Mobile 7 OS for Nokia phones. This deal will last for 5 years. So how will MS benefit from this kind of set-up? Well, firstly, it will get royalty fee for every Nokia device that goes out with Windows 7 Mobile OS and secondly, just imagine they amount of money they will make on licensing given the volumes at which Nokia has the capability to churn out phones. As of now, it is not sure whether Nokia will bring Windows 7 OS on it's low to mid-range phones. Their high-end smart phones will certainly get Windows 7 but I am sure even MS must be pushing Nokia to get Windows 7 on its low to mid range phones cause that's where the volume game is and Nokia leads it.

Augmented reality is not just restricted to sci-fi movies these days but mobile phone companies and app developers are putting all their efforts to get this feature on today's smart phones. Smart phones today are no less than small computers and having such apps on them makes sense.Companies like Google, Nokia, Apple, LG etc are working on augmented reality. The video below shows demo of an app named ScanSearch, which is an augmented reality app for Windows 7 based mobile phones. You can see it running on the LG Optimus 7.
All Windows Mobile fans are excited as the Windows Mobile 7 will soon be coming on a lot of mobile phones. Actually, I am not sure if there a lot of fans out there who like Windows Mobile as a smart phone OS. Anyway, guys over at HDBlog have come up with a video that shows games being played on a Samsung Omnia thats running a version of Windows Mobile 7. The touch interface and the gaming Menu whioch has XBOX 360 Live really look nice and pretty intuitive in this video. Even the gaming looks awesome. If you remember, Steve Jobs in one of his keynote said that gaming is important from a developer as well as an user point of view when it comes to the iPhone and the iPod Touch, well it seems Microsoft wants to make sure that they replicate the gaming experience of the Xbox 360 with Windows Mobile 7 on small handheld devices.
