If you thought that Nokia's Vertu range of handsets were one of the most expensive handsets in the Nokia stable then think again. Welcome, Nokia Supreme, the costliest of all Nokia's out there. Taking its design inspiration from the Nokia 8800, this pimped up handsets boasts of 83 grams of platinum, which is used in making the veneers, 8 screws that hold the phone together and a diamond mount for the center button. Apart from the platinum, the phone's studded with 1,225 pink diamonds. The center diamond is a 3 carat single cut flawless one. Now the main and scary part (for poor guys like you and me), the phone will be your if you can shell out $160,000 and it will be shipped to you in a granite case with suave leather interiors. I guess once someone one buys this phone, he/she also needs to invest in some kind of security.

Meridiist Phone.jpg

After launching its first ever luxury phone, the Meridiist, last year, Tag Heuer has now launched a very catchy site for the same phone. The website is designed in such a way that a suer can go through the series of photos, videos and animations to get a better understanding of this new Vertu killer from Tag Heuer. Tag Heuer Meridiist costs around 3400 to 4500 Euros and if you are planning to go for the diamond finished model then, whooping 8000 Euros. So whats so speacial about the Meridiist? The phone has 430 hand assembled components and is made of corrosion resistant steel that is used in watch making. Now Tag Heuer cannot go wrong with this technology as they are churning high-end watches from years. Apart from that, the QVGA display is protected by 60 carat Sapphire crystal. Other features include, second OLED screen, Bluetooth, 2 mega pixel snapper (must have gone for 5 megs man!!), Media player and other basic functions of a mobile phone.

Other features are most probable the same as you get on other Vertu range of the phones and if you are planning to but this baby you will have to shell out $8,500 for a single piece of this beauty.oops...Ceramic Beauty!!

Gold Arte Nokia 8800.jpgNokia recently announced its new phone for the elite, the Nokia 8800 Arte Gold. As the name suggests this phone features 18 carat gold plating, premium leather and stainless steel parts. This phone belongs to the gadget arsenal of the elite. Apart from this, the phone's slider mechanism works on precision ball bearings. Being a metallic phone, you might think that this one's a finger print magnet but now worries, Nokia has coated the phone with anti-finger print coating, which will reduce the smudges on your phone. Rest of the features include 3.2 mega pixel auto focus snapper with 4GB internal memory. The phone will be available in the year 2009. But hey wait, this phone won't be available in the whole wide world, Nokia will be launching it only in the select few markets of South East Asia. This is not the first gold Arte, Goldstriker came out with their own Gold Version of the Nokia Arte followed by a Swiss designer coming up with a Sapphire studded version of the Nokia 8800 Arte. Seems that Nokia 8800 Arte is a phone that every designer wants to customize in his/her own expensive ways.

Check out this new phone from Vertu to mark the 150th anniversary of the Boucheron Jewellery house in Paris. The phone you are seeing is not a reflection but the actually phone has been made to look like this. Now this is the best part, the phone is made from solid gold, which you would have already guessed by now. It took 1000 hours to make this phone look like this, 700 hours to hand polish it and 500 hours to hand build it. Looking at the phone it seems that someone has taken a Vertu phone made of solid gold and hit it with an axe n number of times. The phone will certainly cost a bomb but who will buy this phone man, by thinking of holding it, I am getting a weird feeling in my hand.

The first Vertu phone was launched by Nokia in the year 1998. Many of us don't know that Very is a Nokia brand and Nokia has always kept itself disconnected from its Vertu brand as Vertu is a uber-premium brand of mobile phones. This year, Vertu is celebrating its 10th anniversary. As a part of its 10th anniversary Vertu also launched its popular Constellation and classic Rococo collection of premium mobile phones. As a part of its 10th anniversary celebrations Vertu chose Michelle Yeoh as the person who signifies all qualities of the Vertu range of mobile phones. Michelle Yeoh, as you know is a popular Chinese actress who has acted in movies like, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Tomorrow Never Dies, Memoirs of a Geisha and many more. Like Vertu, Michelle signifies, finesse, class, strength and exquisiteness. Maybe that is the reason Michelle was the chosen by Vertu as its main protagonist of its print media campaigns. You can see Michelle posing with Vertu Rococo in the image above.

Nokia Arte is an elite phone from the Nokia stable. Goldstriker came out with a Gold edition of the Nokia Arte for the Elitist elite. Now, Swiss luxury designer and Jeweler Knalihs Athem has come up with the Limited Diamond Edition of the Sapphire Arte from Nokia. This one has 1000 6.75 carat diomonds all over it with brilliant cut and the cost is just $20,000. This Diamond Edition is one of the masterpieces from the designer and they are planning to make only 20 of these, so it is very much limited edition you see. Some time back a Norwegian designer also came up with a Diamond Edition of the Nokia Sapphire Arte. That version was just $6000 as compared to this $20,000 one. So just imagine the premium quality of this phone from the Swiss designer and yeah alst but not the least, you can expect quality work on this one as the Swiss are known for their perfect quality and cut!!! By the way the Swiss designer has also pimped up the Apple iPhone.

The Nokia 8800 Arte is a premium phone by the Finnish giant. The arte is better than many premium phones out there but is not doing well, may be that is the reason Nokia has launched a new version of the 8800 Arte. This one is studded with diamonds and Nokia has come out with this limited edition diamond edition as a result of its partnership with Norwegian-jeweler Thomas Heyerdahl. The Nokia 8800 Arte Diamond edition has 112 diamonds totaling upto 0.7 carats. The phone is priced at $6000 and comes with super smooth slide action, high-end metal and glass composition and a brand name that matters, Nokia.

Vertu is a one hell of a pricey phone; it became costly after Vertu launched the 10th Anniversary Rococo Edition of the Vertu Constellation Collection. Now, Vertu has become pricier as it has launched the Diamond Encrusted version of the Vertu phone. This one is called the Colored Diamonds Collection and joins the Vertu Signature line of pricey handsets. Two variants have been launched of this Diamond Vertu, Signature Rose Gold Pink Diamonds and Signature Rose Gold Pink Sapphires. Vertu’s skilled craftsmen, using a combination of 18 Carat Rose Gold and pink diamonds, pink sapphires and rubies of the highest quality, handcraft the handsets…huh!!! On the top of that, 8 designers worked for four long years so that you can get a perfect feel from the keypad, now that’s insane!!! The Signature is a special collection from Vertu with rare gems like the Pink Diamonds and Sapphires. So next time you are carrying this phone, make sure that you have adequate security in place.

Who says only Vertu makes luxury handsets, there are many companies in the world who make handsets, which are so costly that, they will even make a Vertu look cheap. Mobiado is one of such companies. This time they have come up with another luxury handset called, Stealth. This triband handset is made of solid block aircraft grade aluminum. The camera and display are protected by sapphire crystal glass. On the top of this the buttons are also topped with sapphire. The phone has a 2 mega-pixel camera and customized Nokia S40 platform. At least for someone Nokia has gone ahead and made customized S40, which according to me, is better than the S60.

It is reported that 2 men were arrested for stealing Nokia Vertu Handsets worth 194,000 pounds. Now they didn’t steal these handsets from any shop but to get a hand on this lucrative booty, they hijacked and robbed a van carrying these handsets in Hampshire. This incident happened 2 years back and they were sentenced this year (who says justice takes its own time in India). Stealing Vertu handsets is a good business for some people, even if you cant sell the phone you can anytime sell the gold plating and precious gemstones the phone has, but getting caught is really bad cause you end up in jail and also pay up fine, which can easily buy you a premium handset.
