Nokia opened its Romania manufacturing unit a couple of years back to focus on basic handset manufacturing. Now the unit will slowly be moving towards manufacturing of complex. May be in the last couple of years Nokia has revamped it production capability at the Romania facility and now they are moving towards manufacturing of smart phones. The facility, which started in Feb 2008 is situated in the village of Jucu outside of Cluj and part from Nokia other OEM and software vendors are also situated there.
This is the same facility of Nokia, which was in controversy as Nokia closed down its Bochum plant in Germany and moved production to Romania. Nokia ahs not given any details on which models will be manufactured at the revamped Romania facility.
