This is the new Nokia Rover that might soon be launching at the Nokia World Event and a mobile website from Bulgaria got hold of the pictures. As you can see it is the successor of Nokia's previous N Series tablets like the N800 and the N810 and runs on MAEMO, which is a different flavor of Linux OS. This tablet leaked a few days back on the FCC website. Rover is very different from the previous Nokia tablets. N800 and the N810 were specially designed for processing as well as Internet browsing. The Rover, however, has a SIM card slot, that means you can double the table as a cell phone. Even if you look stupid holding a tablet to your ears. Anyway, thats a good feature. The Rover also sports a 5 meg snapper with Car Zeiss lens. There is a slide out QWERTY keyboard and the screen size is massive. Apart from being an Internet tablet, the Rover can make calls, it has a TV out option, 3.5mm standard headphone jack and also a small stand so that you can watch videos.

With devices like this slowly coming and getting better day by day, they mind end up killing Netbooks. I am not sure if the Maemo 5 OS used in Rover, will have any contribution from Intel, given their recent partnership to enhance each other's Linux OSs. This year's Nokia World Event is gonna be interesting as some new phones are going to be launched. If you remember in April, I had informed you about Nokia launching three new touch screen handsets and a Linux tablet in this year's Nokia World 2009. So get ready for Nokia 5800i, Nokia 5900, N97 Mini and yeah, Nokia Rover. Some more pictures of Rover for your viewing pleasure.
