After a lot of delays, 3G services will be finally inaugurated in Chennai which is located in the southerns part of India on BSNL network. The inauguration ceremony will be handled by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu State and the first 3G call will me mae by Mr. Raju, the minister for Information and Broadcasting. These 3G services will be available only on BSNL as of now. There is no news on other operator's plans to go for these services. Before BSNL, MTNL launched 3G services on its network in the month of December 2008. Even this launch from BSNL is a delayed launch, the company was supposed to launch it in the month of December but MTNL got it before them.
