MobileWorldCongress.jpgIts back!! No, not the Terminator but the Mobile World Congress, which is held in Barcelona every year. MWC sees a host of speakers and mobile OEM who deliver keynotes and showcase their innovative and user friendly gadgets and technologies. All companies are hit by the global economic slowdown and CEOs of many companies including AT&T, Microsoft, MySpace, Nokia, NTT DoCoMo, Telefónica, Telenor, Verizon Communications and Vodafone would be addressing the congress.

People who will be handling the keynote include,
Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets;
Steve Ballmer, CEO, Microsoft;
Chris DeWolfe, CEO and co-founder, MySpace;
Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, president and CEO, Nokia Corporation;
Ryuji Yamada, president and CEO, NTT DoCoMo;
César Alierta, executive chairman, Telefónica;
Jon Fredrik Baksaas, president and CEO, Telenor Group;
Dick Lynch, EVP and CTO, Verizon Communications;
Vittorio Colao, chief executive, Vodafone.

Nokia will be showcasing its first XpressMusic phone with QWERTY keypad, the Nokia 5730 and you might also get a glimpse of Windows Mobile 6.5 OS. Nokia launched its famous five at last year's Mobile World Congress, with Sony Ericsson showcasing its G Series mobile phones. You also saw LiMo Foundation launch its first 18 handset with open source LiMo platform. Global Mobile Awards in different categories will also be handed over this time, check out last year's nominees for Best Mobile Phone of the Year.

The 2009 Mobile World Congress is one every tech/mobile geek's list and everybody will be closely watching. Keep a watch on NAMP as I will be covering and presenting you my thoughts when the Mobile World Congress kicks off.
