With the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic making its rounds around the blogosphere, ever Nokia fan in India is talking about it. But hey, have you guys forgotten that, Nokia recently launched its first touch screen N Series phone with full side sliding QWERTY keyboard . The N97 is the first touch screen N Series multimedia computer from Nokia. The phone will be making its way into the hands of Indian mobile users in the year 2009. 2009 will be Nokia's year of touch screen, The specs of N97 are pretty impressive with, S60 5th edition OS, 3.5 inches touch screen with 640x360 (16:9) resolution and Haptic feedback, slide out QWERTY keyboard, 5 Mega pixel snapper with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash, DVD Quality Picture Output, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, Nokia Maps 3.0 (topographical maps, satellite imagery, 3D renderings of popular buildings in over 200 cities), Built-in compass (tells you which side of the map, that is loaded, you are facing), N Gage Support, HSDPA, 32GB of built in flash memory, microSD card slot up to 16 GB supported ;-) , FM-radio, FM-transmitter (for sending music from the phone to a radio tuner), 3.5mm headphone jack which can also be used as a TV out-socket.

Nokia N97 has some really impressive features and it will create a lot of buzz when it comes to the market. After launching the phone at last year's Nokia World 2008, Nokia also showcased the phone in this year's CES 2009. The phone will start shipping in the second half of 2009. So this phone will soon be available in India by 2nd half of 2009 or latest by Q3 2009, lets see. The phone will be priced between Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 38,000 in India. Though this phone will be pricey for many of us, you don't need to worry as Nokia has made sure that they would be launching a lot of touch screen phones in mid-range price segment . So N97 is not the only touch screen phone that you will see this year, Nokia has said that it is making more touch screen N Series mobile phones . This year Nokia has made sure that they target their competitors with a range of its touch screen phones. Nokia's CEO has said that , the company is developing touch screen technology that can be used in several different handsets types. With this Nokia will have a deep touch screen mobile phone portfolio and that will be their key to fight their rivals. Also in 2009, mobile companies will face the heat of the economic downturn but Nokia will be targeting profits in these troubled times and given its market dominance it will be in a better position to negotiate with its component suppliers.
