Not Another Mobile Phone Blog

One of its kind Mobile Phone Blog, that gives you views and news about mobile phones from India and across the world. I am in love with Nokia and their phones but I also write about other mobile guys. Think Mobile..Think NAMP!!!!

Here on NAMP, I had already told you that Nokia was going to launch the Nokia Tube in India during the month of November but it seems that there are some change in plans from Nokia. Nokia has just now announced the launch of its first Symbian S60 based touch screen phone for the Indian market. The phone will be priced at Rs. 21,839. The phone will be available to users all over India from the month of Jan 2009. Maybe Nokia is waiting for current recession to go by and by Jan people might have some money to spend. But at a price of 22k the phone looks really cool and there will be many buyers to the phone due to its not so pricey price. The Indians have seen the launch of some pricey phones is the last 3 to 4 months including the iPhone, Samsung INNOVATE, Blackberry Bold. All these phones are priced above the 30k barrier but Nokia Tube's price seems to be competitive. Coming back to the Nokia Tube or some like to call it the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has an impressive 3.2 inch touch scree with Symbian S60 touch. Its QVGA resolution is something that will attract toady's youth. The phone also packs GPS, Wi-Fi and Stereo Bluetooth with Haptic feedback technology that is supposed to make the touch screen experience of the user a bliss. Being a multimedia device the phone includes stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headset jack and a 3.2 megapixel snapper with Carl Zeiss lens and dual LED flashes. You can shoot video upto 30 fps using the phone's built-in video camera. When it comes to memory, the Nokia 5800 does not disappoint as it supports microSDHC cards upto 16 GB so that you can enjoy your favorite movies and music on the move. Nokia 5800 has Nokia maps to capitalize on location based services. It seems that with Nokia Maps, Nokia wants to compete with Google.
There are no details on if Nokia is going to tie-up with some operator like AirTel or Vodafone for this phone when it comes out in 2009. As per my experience they wont be doing that, as Nokia does not usually tie-up with operators especially in India for mid range to high-end phones. Keep watching this space for more inputs on the Nokia Tube and its entry to the Indian market.
