This news is not something new when it comes to Nokia. The Finnish mobile phone giant has always focused on emerging markets like India. This time to it has launched 6 new handsets that are exclusively meant for emerging markets. With the launch of 7100 Supernova, 5130 XpressMusic, 2323 and 2330 Classic, the 1202 and the 1661Nokia will make sure they make their position strong in emerging markets. All these candybar phones are entry level handsets with no hi-fi features but what will make these handsets attractive for users in emerging markets are two services, Mail on Ovi (focus will be on email) and Nokia Life Tools (these services will focus on two needs of emerging markets, education and agriculture). When it comes to India, Nokia has made its mark in the rural market and with these low priced handsets and cost effective services, its position will be strong in these turbulent times. Nokia will also be laying of almost 600 people from its sales, marketing and research centers.
