Though Apple leads the global tablet shipments with its amazing iPad, Android managed to caputure 22% share of the Global Tablet Shipments in Q4 2010 according to the research firm Strategy Analytics. Peter King, Director at Strategy Analytics, said, "Global tablet shipments grew 120 percent sequentially to reach 9.7 million units in Q4 2010. Apple maintained first position. Apple recorded an impressive 75 percent global marketshare during the fourth quarter, but it has slipped from a peak of 95 percent in Q3 2010 due to rising competition from Android."
This is indeed a great achievement for Android OS, which is giving tough competition to existing smart phone OSs, which have been in this space from a long time. The start of 2011 has marked the launch on new Android based tablets from vendors like Motorola, this will indeed have a positive impact on the growth of Android as a Tablet OS.
