Not Another Mobile Phone Blog

One of its kind Mobile Phone Blog, that gives you views and news about mobile phones from India and across the world. I am in love with Nokia and their phones but I also write about other mobile guys. Think Mobile..Think NAMP!!!!

The Indian mobile market was once dominated by all big wigs of the mobile phone industry, with Nokia holding almost 70% of the market. Today, things have changed drastically. With the advent of small players like Micromax, Lava, Karbonn etc, the big guys have already started feeling the heat especially in the race of low priced mobile phones, where volumes do matter. Smart phones are popular in India but the Indian mobile market thrives on cheap phones that serve the basic purpose and all these small players are doing the right thing to target such people to demand these phones. Nokia and Samsung are one of the two big players who have been suffering big time in this. According to IDC, Nokia’s share slipped by 5% in Q3 2010 and now Nokia commands only 31.5% of the Indian mobile phone market share. Biggest shocker is Samsung, who slipped from no 2 spot thanks to GFive, which is a Chinese player. Now Samsung’s market share is 8.2% and that of GFive is 10.6%. Other big players like Apple and RIM are also giving troubles to already established players like Nokia and Samsung in the India market. [TOI]
