This year will the year of touch screens for Nokia. After the immensely popular Nokia 5800, Nokia is all set to see the day when its other high-end touch screen phone of the N Series range, the Nokia N97 will hit the retail market. In the third quarter of 2009, Nokia has announced that three more touch screen handsets will be launched. We already saw the leaked pics of the Nokia 5900, which is one of the rumored handsets, it indeed looks good, I mean if its a real Nokia, we have to wait and see. Nokia might also be launching the Nokia 5530, which is one of its cheap touch screen smart phones. According to some industry sources in Taiwan, Nokia will be sourcing touch screen ICs from Synaptics and there is also a possibility that, some of the touch screen handsets that, Nokia is set to launch will be having multi-touch technology. Lets wait what exactly comes in 2009, how many of the above mentioned handsets and also this Synaptics technology!!

I actually don't know much about Synaptics at all, but multi touch technology is definitely the way to go. I have experienced it on Ipod touch, and it makes browsing sites, and even pictures etc. so much more easier and intuitive. I just hope there are no lengthy legal wars for this. ( like how things heated up between palm and apple recently...but there have been no formal complaints so far)

@Mehul - Synpatics is a company that makes touch screen technology making things like Gesture control, having shortcuts on the touch screen that are more intuitive and make the phone's touch UI more responsive and user friendly. yeah multi touch is something all mobile phones guys who are into touch screen handsets should have
