Recently, Nokia teamed up with University of California to improve mobile users experience and given them something called augmented reality. Nokia has always wanted to make its mobile phones, something, which is more than a normal mobile phone and a mobile user can use it for different day to day activities like Internet, entertainment, business etc. Taking a step further in its mobile initiatives, Nokia will soon be prepping out with smart phones based on dual-core Symbian mobile OS. This was said by Nokia's VP of Software Platforms Mr. Rivas at the Nokia Developer Summit 2009. So may be in the future, Nokia smart phones will come equipped with dual chips and will be having features that do not exist in today's smart phones due to lack of processing power. The biggest boost that thee dual chip based smart phones might receive will be in terms of processing power i.e. multitasking, high-end 3D graphics engine, superb games (boost to the N Gage platform. Only God and Nokia knows whats in store.

So, this technology will be almost the same as dual (or quad) core chips based computers? That's certainly very good news! I am all up for faster & more responsive phones.. I guess, then applications too will need to be designed so that they can take advantage of the dual core..right?

@Mehul, you are right, Nokia will make sure that by the time it launches such phones, there are applications in the market which can exploit the full functionality of such smart phones. Once they confirm this phones, I am sure the Symbian developer community will be provided with more developer tools that will assist them in getting out high-end applications
