It seems that big wigs of the mobile phone industry are pretty impressed with the Google backed Android OS for mobile phones. After Android made its debut in the US market on HTC's Dream handset, Sony Ericsson officially announced its membership of the Open Handset Alliance, the guys behind Android OS. Now there is one more addition to this league, according to a Korean News Website, Samsung will soon be releasing its first Android powered handset in the second quarter of 2009. Samsung has a dedicated team of 80 developers, which also includes 30 Linux and Java professionals, who are working on this phone. The phone is rumored to be a touch screen smart phone, with 5 mega pixel snapper, 3G capability, Wi-Fi etc. The phone will also features common Google applications like Google Maps, GMail, GTalk, Google Docs etc. Now Samsung is the second OEM, which will be coming up with an Android powered mobile phone after HTC. Though Sony Ericsson has announced its membership and wish to come up with an Android phone, its has not specified any date. Now after all this, the sad part is that, this new Android phone from Samsung will be launched in the US market first, there is no news from Samsung whether it is planning to launch this phone is European and emerging markets like India.
