Not Another Mobile Phone Blog

One of its kind Mobile Phone Blog, that gives you views and news about mobile phones from India and across the world. I am in love with Nokia and their phones but I also write about other mobile guys. Think Mobile..Think NAMP!!!!

RIM announced the launch of its new touch screen device the Storm last week. There is no official announcement from RIM that, the Storm will take the iPhone head-on but industry experts and experts in the blogosphere are ready with their reasons on why the Blackberry Storm is an iPhone killer. Blackberry Storm was supposed to be Blackberry Thunder but suddenly RIM announced that it would be called Storm, no reasons on why the name Thunder was dropped (may be its was just the name given by rumor mongers and not by RIM). coming back to the capabilities of Storm that would make a new iPhone killer, you will realize that some features of the Storm are really good and will make the iPhone run for its money.

RIM has developed the Storm to attract the attention of corporate as well as normal mobile phone users, whereas the iPhone, though popular with normal multimedia loving consumers, does not appeal to enterprise and business users. SMS and MMS forwarding functions is something that gives on up to the Storm over the iPhone. Blackberry Storm's touch screen is a clickable touch screen that gives the feeling of a physical touch but the kind of multi touch performance that the iPhone delivers is way ahead of the Blackberry Storm. There will be a tie when it comes to Internet browsing experience on these phones as they have 3G technology for high speed browsing. The iPhone costs a bomb in India and the Blackberry Storm will also not be cheap when it comes to India. Features like video recording, Roxio Media player put the Blackberry Storm on top of the iPhone but to be frank RIM would not be exactly targeting iPhone customers with its new touch screen offering, yeah for a matter of fact it will target enterprise customers who crave for the iPhone but just cant take it given functionality and security for enterprise data. Touch screen phone like the Nokia Tube, Samsung Pixon, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 and many others, that were launched in the year 2008 were and are called as the iPhone killers but none of them has actually managed to threaten iPhone's seat so will Storm be able to do that? Lets see when Storm hits other markets of the world.
