XPERA range is Sony Ericsson's answer to the multimedia monsters from Nokia. XPERIA's first handset X1 will be launching soon in Europe by 30th September. X1 is the first handset from Sony Ericsson that belongs to the XPERIA range of mobile handsets. X1 runs on Windows Mobile OS but Sony Ericsson has clearly told that the future mobile handsets that will fall under the XPERIA umbrella will not necessarily be Windows Mobile handsets. Sony Ericsson is portraying XPERIA handsets as fast mobile handsets that let you upload and download data at high speeds. These handsets are meant to handle rich multimedia content whether it is movies, music or just browsing the Internet. Sony Ericsson is under pressure as they are not doing well in the market and facing stiff competition from LG and Samsung and not to forget the big daddy Nokia. XPERIA range of handsets is something that might revive the company as i feel that some change is necessary for Sony Ericsson handsets and people are getting bored of their Walkman and K Series range of handsets. We will have to wait and watch if the X1 does something good for Sony Ericsson.
